The Vocations Prayer Cross Ministry invites families and individuals to take the Vocations Cross and prayer book home for one week to pray for religious vocations. Sign up sheets are located on the literature racks at both St. John's and St. Margaret's.
"Ask the Lord of the Harvest to send out Laborers for His harvest."
The Vocations Office for the Diocese of Lafayette, with the help of St. Elizabeth Society, created a Vocations Prayer Cross Kit so as to fulfill the Lord's command to pray for an increase in religious and priestly vocations.
Their hope was that it would be passed around to different families within our diocesan parish and school communities, giving everyone an opportunity to bring the Vocational Prayer Cross into their home to pray aloud as a family, specifically for an increase to priestly and religious life and for the priests in their own lives.
The Vocations Kit
Designed to be beautiful, prayerful, educational, and easy to handle, each kit comes with a booklet, a crucifix, and a statue.
A Booklet
Composed of many ancient and local prayers from around the diocese, including a litany of the saints specifically written with Vocations in mind. It also contains a Vocations Glossary so families can learn the difference between a "Sister" and a "Nun" or a "Brother" and a "Priest."
A Crucifix
A beautiful, Italian made, 14 inch gold-plated altar crucifix.
A Statue
The 5 inch Marian figure of Our Lady of Prompt Succor, the patroness of the State of Louisiana, is hand painted by the Sisters of the Community of Jesus Crucified as they prayed for vocations.

What a beautiful gift to Our Lord!
Our sincerest thank you to your family for taking on the mission of "asking the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers for the harvest." It is our hope that all members within our parish and school community welcome this opportunity as a time to gather together at home for intentional prayer as a family. We are truly humbled that you would give of your time, in prayer and sacrifice, to pray for future vocations.
